DC Digest: How to Join & Who Should Join
Share |

All club officers and center administrators are welcome to join the DCDigest. The DCDigest is a one-list that allows questions and idea sharing from across the country. To join, first log onto www.yahoogroups.com.  Users new to Yahoo Groups will first need to register with Yahoo by requesting a User ID and password. Next, search for the digest by typing in DCDigest with no spaces or punctuation. Finally, a request for membership of the Digest must be made. Once a moderator has approved the membership, the process is complete. Users must register themselves in order to have access to their own accounts, which will allow individuals to make changes to their own settings.

If you are a CA, ACA, DC, Joint DC or other club officer in the USPC, please subscribe. Be sure to also notify other new club officers of this opportunity. If none of your club's officers are on-line, it may be necessary for your club to designate a sponsor to join. Many important updates are first shared on the DCDigest as well as important membership and deadline reminders. The DCDigest remains one of the best ways to ensure that every club/center and its members are aware of all that USPC has to offer. New members will even gain access to archived messages, so previously asked questions may be referenced as well.

This list is currently moderated by Karol Wilson, USPC Director of Member Services and Regional Administration, and is monitored by most National Committee Chairpersons.

When participating in discussion on the USPC DCDigest, please remember:

  • Treat one another with courtesy and respect. Discuss issues, not individuals.
  • Value succinct messages. Be clear, crisp and compelling.
  • Be responsible for your statements ‐‐ Reread with a cool head before you send.
  • When in doubt, save your message overnight and read it in the morning before sending.
  • Respect the instructions of the moderators.
  • Do NOT hit "reply" to Digest messages or daily compilations, as the day's preceding messages will be attached as well. To post a message, create a new message and send to dcdigest@yahoogroups.com. To retain context in a subject's discussion, paste in a key fragment of the message to which you're responding, but limit the length.
  • Include a clear and specific subject line and retain it in follow‐up messages even as it evolves. ("Re: Hackamores (was Rally Tack)".
  • Subjects that have been fully explored and answered will be considered closed. Further postings on that subject may be deemed "off‐topic" and therefore not approved for posting. Previous postings will remain accessible through the archives for reference.
  • Don't send your message in ALL CAPS.
  • If the point you want to make has already been made, don't feel the need to repeat it.
  • No virus alerts, jokes or off‐topic posts.
  • Never share e‐mail addresses from the DCDigest.
  • Sign your messages appropriately with your club/state/region/official or volunteer position.
  • To unsubscribe from DCDigest, follow the Yahoo Group instructions on the page, do NOT send a message to the list asking to be removed.

Let's Keep a Low "STRESS" level on Our Digests:

E – Educational … Add to the discussion, don't rehash old points.

S – Subject-oriented …Stick to the current subject or start a new, retitled thread.
