The members of the National Youth Board feel strongly that leadership opportunities for older Pony Club members is vital for their continued interest and enjoyment in the organization. Below, please find opportunities in Pony Club that older members can participate in.
Regional Youth Board
In 2013, the National Youth Board's goal is to create and maintain successful regional youth boards across the country. Many of you may already be familiar with the Junior Board concept on the local level. This will not only help retain each region's older members but is also a vital piece of the direct communication link between the USPC Board of Governors and the general membership which the National Youth Board was created in part to serve.
There are several reasons why we feel this issue is so important:
1) Forming strong inter-club/center friendships at an early age is felt to be an important component in why older members stay involved in the organization. Regional Junior Boards provide social opportunities for these friendships to develop.
2) As some clubs are getting smaller, it is becoming increasingly difficult for these clubs to provide former mainstays of the Pony Club program, such as peer-to-peer instruction. Regional Junior Boards consolidate upper level resources and allow these important programs to continue to be delivered to members at the regional level.
3) Regional Junior Board can complement regional opportunities by organizing and holding their own social and educational activities.
4) Some members are eager to serve the organization in leadership roles. Regional Junior Boards provide this opportunity for those who may be interested.

Club/Center Junior Board
The National Youth Board strongly encourages all interested and eligible members join their club or center junior boards. If your club or center does not have a junior board we recommend that you contact your DC or CA about creating one.
Refer your DC or CA to the DC/CA Guide for more information and examples of junior boards.
National Youth Board
Interested in applying to be a delegate to the National Youth Board? We encourge all Pony Club members 18 and over to apply!
Completed applications should be sent to the National Office at 4041 Ironworks Parkway, Lexington, KY, 40511. Applications must be received no later than September 30 and will be considered at the fall meeting of the Board of Governors.

Visiting Instructor Program
Do you enjoy teaching? If so, check out Pony Club's Visiting Instructors program. The Visiting Instructors program is run through the National Office, and connects older members with clubs and centers across the country looking for instructors for their programs.

International Exchanges
Want to combine travel with horses and meeting new great friends? Check out the International Exchange Web pages and watch for upcoming exchanges that you can apply to participate in. US Pony Clubs, along with Pony Clubs from Australia, Britain, Canada, Japan, and other countries, take turns hosting exchanges where each country sends a team or teams of members for a culture exchange, many of which include competing in various disciplines, like Quiz, Mounted Games, Foxhunting, and Tetrathlon! Take advantage of this opportunity if you can.
