U.S. CAVALRY ASSOCIATION AWARDS
Thirteen Pony Club members were presented with U.S. Cavalry Association Awards
at the USPC Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday morning, January
27th. The coveted trophy is awarded annually to current Pony Club members who
are the leading Pony Club competitors in a two- or three-day event recognized
by The US Equestrian Federation and USEA. Larry E. Byers, presented the awards.
The original trophy was presented to the USPC in recognition of the Pony Clubs’ commitment to carry on the equestrian sport traditions of the U.S.

Cavalry and in honor of the many Cavalry officers who served the USPC with
invaluable advice and guidance during its formative years. It is awarded for
two- and three-day event success, because eventing was originally a test of a
Cavalry officer’s charger.
The trophy is a plaque at USPC headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky, engraved
with the names of the winners. Individuals receive a photo of the plaque in an engraved silver frame
with the U.S. Cavalry Association crest.
