FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
USPC Heritage Award, Dressage at Devon
LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY: The United States Pony Clubs, Inc., announces that The USPC Heritage Award, Dressage at Devon 2008, was presented to Heather Mason of Lebanon, New Jersey, at the conclusion of
Dressage at Devon, September 28, 2008. She is a graduate H-A member of Spring
Valley Hounds Pony Club in the New Jersey Region.
Congratulations to Ms. Mason, who attained an impressive score of 65.8% riding
Glen Emeril in Fourth Level, Test 2. This was the highest score of a current or
former Pony Club member who registered for the Heritage Award. Glen Emeril is
owned by Kevin Whitney.
The Heritage Award, Dressage at Devon, is presented yearly at the competition to the current or former Pony Club member
attaining the highest percentage score on a test ridden. The Heritage Award, a silver goblet, is engraved with the name and club of the recipient and is on
display at USPC Headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky. A smaller silver trophy is
presented to the winner.
Pony Club is a misnomer: it is not a club for ponies. The United States Pony Clubs, Inc., was founded as a national non-profit
educational youth horsemanship organization in February 1954. Pony Club teaches
horsemanship, riding and the care of the horse to young people through the age
of 25. Today, there are over 600 Pony Clubs nationwide – including those in Alaska and Hawaii – with 12,000 members.
