The DCdigest is an email group for club and center leaders to ask questions and share information on the Pony Club program. In addition, many important announcements and reminders are shared by the National Office on this digest. Be sure that you or another club officer or volunteer is signed up to receive this digest!

Rating Information - Clubs are responsible for providing testing opportunities for their members at the D-1 through C-2 levels. Clubs should anticipate offering rating tests twice a year, or more often if warranted by the progress of the members.

Information on the member requirements to test can be found at the end of each level of the Standard of Proficiency. This includes information on how long a child needs to be a member before rating, if mounts may be shared at that level, and other expectations and requirements.

DC Guide - This is a comprehensive manual designed to assist the DC in the administration of the club and the Pony Club program. This is the FIRST place a DC should turn to when they have a question. If the answer cannot be found in the DC Guide, then the RS should be contacted.

The DC Guide is online and may be accessed in full or by chapter. The information in the DC Guide is based on the Policies and By-Laws (club, regional, and national) of USPC. While the Regional Administration Committee works hard to keep the DC Guide up to date, keep in mind that the Policies and By-Laws always supersede any information found in the Guide.

Frequently Asked Questions - There is a lot to learn in Pony Club, from questions on memberships to going to Championships. The FAQ page on the Web site will hopefully help you find the answers to your questions, or, if not, guide you to the appropriate person to contact.

Club Packets

Each fall every club is required to hold an Annual Meeting to conduct the business of the club, which includes voting to recommend a DC and any JtDC to the RS and elect a Secretary and Treasurer for the following year. In addition, membership renewals must be completed and sent into the National Office before November 15th to avoid a late fee.

Club Policies - Every club falls under the By-Laws of USPC, which is divided into three sections, By-Laws of USPC (national), By-Laws of the Regions of USPC, and the By-Laws of the Registered Clubs of USPC. In addition, policies are written at each level to further support the By-Laws. The National Policies may be found on this Web site. Many regions have their policies on the regional Web site, or, if not, they are available upon request to the RS. In addition, each club should have their own set of policies.

Information on what should be included in your club's policies, how to write policies, and when and how the policies should be reviewed may be found in the DC Guide.

Club Finances - Each Registered Club is its own business entity and as such has reporting obligations to the IRS. In addition, each club is also part of USPC and must submit a Cash Receipts & Disbursements form to the National Office by February 15th of each year.

Fundraising - Clubs fall under the USPC Group Exemption. Meaning that donations to a club are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. A page on the Web site has been dedicated to Fundraising information and ideas, including sample donor thank you letters, considerations in evaluating whether or not to accept a donated horse, and much more!

Club Web site - A Web site is a great way for your club to advertise to potential members and for your current members and their parents to stay in touch with the activities of the club. USPC offers hosting to clubs and regions at a low yearly price. Check out the information to decide if your club would like to take advantage of this offer.

Regardless if you use USPC to host your site or not, make sure that the National Office has your club's Web site. Links from the USPC Web site to your club's site will be provided.

Pony Club Promotional Materials - The Forms page under "P" for "PR" contains a multitude of materials that can be used for the promotion of your club. This includes: fill in the blank press releases, posters, flyers, articles, and brochures.
