Annual Meeting of Sponsors

Reminder for all clubs: USPC Bylaws require each and every Registered Club to hold an Annual Meeting of Sponsors in the fall of the year. Please be aware that there are two very important days to remember in relation to this meeting. First, a written notice of this meeting must be delivered NO LESS than 30 days prior to the date of the meeting. Be sure to send a notice of this meeting to all sponsors of record AND to your RS. Secondly, NO new sponsors may be accepted during the 4 weeks prior to the Annual Meeting.

For more information about your Annual Meeting, please review the USPC Bylaws for Registered Clubs, available on-line via the "Forms" section of the USPC website. Additional questions should be directed to your RS.

Live Oak Hounds USPC Foxhunting Challenge Award

With the Foxhunting Season underway for many hunts, it’s time to sign up your Pony Club members for The Live Oak Hounds USPC Foxhunting Challenge Award. The Live Oak Hounds USPC Foxhunting Challenge Award is designed to encourage Pony Club members, who do not regularly hunt, to learn more about, and to experience the sport in a meaningful way. The first Live Oak Hounds USPC Challenge Award will begin with the 2005-2006 hunt season, and run through April 1st, 2006.

The Live Oak Hounds USPC Foxhunting Challenge Award is made possible through the generous support of Mr. and Mrs. C. Martin Wood III, Joint Masters of the Live Oak Hounds and Past Presidents of the Masters of Foxhounds Association.

Six cash awards will go to the individual Pony Clubs who regularly take the greatest number of Pony Club members hunting during one season. Any active Pony Club member who has not hunted four or more times in the previous season is eligible to participate on behalf of his or her club, and must complete a total of 3 hunts in a season. A certificate is available on the USPC web site for Pony Club members to have signed by the Master or Secretary of the hunt after each completed hunt, which can include both cubbing and formal hunting. All Pony Club members must be current, and all participating hunts must be a member hunt of the Master of Foxhounds Association.

For complete details and more information about The Live Oak Hounds USPC Foxhunting Challenge Award, or to obtain a certificate, you can go to the Pony Club web site - www.ponyclub.org and look under “Forms” on the front page. Or contact Wayne Quarles – activities@ponyclub.org or Marian Vester – development@ponyclub.org.

Sent September 2, 2005

This Labor Day weekend, millions of American families will be relaxing with their friends and relatives, enjoying food, water, probably cookouts, a roof over their heads, and beds to sleep in. For thousands in the Gulf Coast region affected by Hurricane Katrina, that won't be possible for some time.

As always in times of need, American compassion and spirit comes to the forefront. This current disaster will take months, if not years, to clean up and get entire cities back on their feet. For now, most social service organizations are saying that the best way to help is through financial donations. Below, you'll find a collection of Internet links where donations or more information can be found.

Business-wise, ACCE (American Chamber of Commerce Executives) and the U.S. Chamber will be collaborating with chambers and businesses in the affected areas over the course of the coming weeks to determine what the needs are. As we receive this information from ACCE and/or the U.S. Chamber, we'll pass it along to the members of Commerce Lexington Inc.

Thank you for anything you can do to help. Together, we will get through this difficult situation.

Bob Quick, President & CEO
Commerce Lexington Inc.

We're sure there are many more, so we'll e-mail out more info as we learn about it.
