The USPC selects coaches and chaperones who will travel with, and be responsible for, the International Exchange team. This is a great opportunity to experience what the exchange is all about. A coach or chaperone may not be a current Committee Member nor a parent of a current International Team member, unless there are no other qualified candidates.

Specific qualifications and requirements will be found with the details and information for each Exchange.

The minimum requirements include:

  • The coach must be 25 years of age and the chaperone must be 30 years of age as of January 1 of the year of the exchange.
  • They must have good character, stability, and maturity, and be supportive of all USPC policies, including the policy on drugs/alcohol.
  • They must have the personal qualities that would make them good ambassadors of USPC and the ability to get along well with children and adults.
  • They must be knowledgeable about Pony Club.
  • They should be, or become familiar with, the customs of the host country.
  • They must complete the application for the position.
  • They must be a Corporate or Life Member of USPC.
  • They must complete a background check.
  • They must complete the training for Youth Protection, Head Injury, and Heat Illness.

In addition, the Coach should have a minimum of three (3) years of coaching experience and be a knowledgeable horseman.
