POSITION TITLE: Development and Marketing Coordinator

FUNCTION:  To support the mission and priorities of The United States Pony Clubs, Inc., by performing a variety of marketing and fundraising tasks; consistently maintaining superior donor relationships; increasing revenue and implementing marketing and communication plans.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Excellent writing, editing, verbal, and presentation skills. Direct fundraising experience (e.g. major gifts, revenue-generating campaigns, grant writing/proposal submission, sponsorship, relationship building, etc.) with a demonstrated record of accomplishment in fundraising. Proven success with online strategies to enhance giving, visibility, engagement and loyalty. Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Competent in typing, proof reading, and organizing. Must have knowledge of, or ability to learn, appropriate Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites, membership database, website, social media, and publishing software. College degree and three to five years’ experience in development, marketing, advertising sales, and/or promotional event experience. Position requires possible travel, evening and weekend hours.


  • Conduct prospect research for new funding opportunities
  • Drive revenue by acquiring new and managing existing advertising customers for print and digital platforms while maintaining active book of advertising clients
  • Execute fundraising activities, including, but not limited to: Annual giving; membership; endowments and planned giving; foundation, and corporate grant writing; program/event sponsorships; and donor recognition and other special events and projects
  • Cultivate and solicit potential and current donors via personal contact, community involvement, media contact and other appropriate fund raising tactics
  • Aggressively manage New Business Development opportunities with key accounts and additional accounts
  • Leverage technology and social media where possible to improve fundraising activities
  • Build upon existing donor relationships and form new donor relationships on a regular basis
  • Research potential donors to gain insight into needs, beliefs and donation habits to understand how to position our organization to them
  • Work with Marketing Department to design marketing materials, like flyers and brochures, to be used for the promotion of events and fundraising

RELATIONSHIP:  Reports to Executive Director.  Must work as a team member with all staff, departments, and volunteer leadership.
