Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA)

The mission of the IEA is to introduce students in private and public middle and secondary schools to equestrian sports and to promote and improve the quality of equestrian competition and instruction. Students compete in competitions where the horses are supplied. They draw a name out of a hat and ride the horse in a class against others of similar ability level. Visit for more information.

Time To Ride

An initiative of the American Horse Council (AHC) Marketing Alliance, Time To Ride’s purpose is to introduce school-age children to horseback riding and horse care in a safe, welcoming environment by helping approved facilities gain new students with marketing-related support. Equine facilities and instructors must meet specific requirements to be considered for Time To Ride Program Facility approval. All instructors must either hold a current professional membership with one or more national breed or discipline associations, be certified as an instructor through a recognized program such as Certified Horsemanship Association or licensed as a riding instructor in the state in which they teach. Barns and instructors meeting the program’s standards are designated Time To Ride Program Facilities and provided with marketing tools, techniques and assistance to help in reaching out to their local schools, youth groups, recreational departments and similar organizations.

United States Equestrian Federation (USEF)

USEF is the governing body for all sanctioned equestrian competitions in the United States. Created in 1917, USEF has been dedicated to pursuing excellence and promoting growth, all while providing and maintaining a safe and level playing field for both its equine and human athletes.

United States Eventing Association (USEA)

If you compete in recognized Horse Trials or 3-Day Events you are a member of the USEA. The USEA is an educational organization committed to providing eventing enthusiasts with a competitive level suited to their individual skills.  They provide education to members through clinics and educational seminars as well as training opportunities for world class competitors. United States Dressage Federation (USDF)
