Foxhunting Icon

The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. was founded in 1954 by a group of foxhunters. A happy child on a happy pony (or horse) is the goal of Pony Club, and the hunt field is a great place to find many of these pairs!

Foxhunting is a mounted sport that dates back hundreds of years.  Mounted riders chase wild game with a pack of hounds across the countryside.  Riders navigate through open terrain, across creeks and streams, over logs and other natural obstacles, and even through woods and thickets.  Foxhunting can be enjoyed by all ages and levels of riding.

Competitions

Foxhunting is a recreational sport that does not hold many organized competitions.  The Master of Foxhounds Association does however feature shows for the hounds to showcase the breed and its high-quality performance.  Hounds are judged against breed standards and on obedience.  There are also divisions for both senior and junior handlers.

Foxhunting in Pony Club

Foxhunting is a discipline in Pony Club, however it is recognized noncompetitive.  There are many opportunities for members to enjoy Hunting as a Pony Club member with many Hunts offering reduced rates to members and Pony Club hunt days.  Pony Club also offers an annual writing competition focused on Foxhunting.
